Professor Ank de Jonge began her career as a nurse working in the United Kingdom before moving back to the Netherlands to pursue a career in community-based midwifery. She is currently a primary care midwife and Professor of Midwifery Science at Amsterdam University Medical Center, where she is also head of the Department of Midwifery Science. Professor de Jonge holds an honorary position at Western Sydney University as an Adjunct Professor at the School of Nursing and Midwifery. She also holds a Masters in Public Health from the University of Edinburgh and a PhD in birthing positions from Amsterdam University Medical Center.
