Maibam Ranita Devi is a nurse and midwife with almost ten years of experience in the health sector. Today, she is a staff leader at the health and wellness center in Awang Wabagai. Ranita follows a hands-on management style that has not only earned her respect, but also the trust of the community she serves as a midlevel health provider in Manipur’s Imphal district.

Maibam Ranita Devi began her career in 2010 as a staff nurse in Imphal. Until two years ago, her role mainly involved attending births. This was when she took the advice of a medical officer who encouraged her to apply for a certificate course in community health. She went on to complete the half-year course conducted by the Indira Gandhi National Open University where providers like Ranita have the opportunity to expand and improve their skills in order to move up in their careers. Once she earned her certificate, she was appointed to her current position where she is able to lead by example in her community.
