Nominee Highlights:

Mechell Marshall has been a Registered Nurse for over 20 years, a qualified Midwife for approximately eight years, and a Community Health Nurse for nearly three. Mechell Marshall is the epitome of the nurse/midwife leader. She serves as Chair of the National Union of Public Workers for nurses, where she dedicates her passion to public policy. As a midwife, she works very closely with the community and has touched the lives of many families. Over the course of her career, she has been an active member of the National Nurses Association holding executive positions, both locally and regionally. Mechel is currently a mentor for the Barbados Nurses Association, National Union of Public Workers Division of Nurses, and works closely with the Student Nurses Association.

Mechell Marshall has worked as a Community Health Nurse for the Ministry of Health and Wellness since 2007. Her duties cover surveillance, family planning, midwifery, child health, and public health. During her time in this position she has received numerous awards and held positions such as Chair of the Nurses Division of the National Union of Public Workers, Regional Nursing Director on the Caribbean Nurses Organization Board, and 1st Vice President of the National Organization of Women, Barbados. Mechell was the first Official Doula trainer in Barbados. She is currently studying for a Postgraduate Certificate in Early Childhood Nutrition from the University of Boston.
