Nester is a consultant advisor in maternal, newborn, child and public health with a background in midwifery, nursing and education. She was a Senior Advisor with the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) for 17 years, working across Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe and Latin America. She worked closely with ministries of health and midwifery programme managers to provide strategic leadership and management of the design, development and implementation of global, regional and country-level programmes in sexual, reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health, as well as midwifery, family planning, HIV and AIDS.
Her expertise and experience spans capacity building, organizational development (especially for midwives associations), monitoring, evaluation and leadership development training. Nester has multiple academic qualifications including a Masters in Nursing and Midwifery Science from the University of Zimbabwe and Case Western Reserve University USA, a Bachelor in Adult Education from the University of Zimbabwe, as well as diplomas in nursing and midwifery from the Mpilo School of Nursing and Midwifery.
