Dr. Bimla Kapoor has a rich experience in nursing pedagogy and administration spanning more than four decades. She is a respected member of the nursing community in India, with the first textbook on Psychiatric Nursing in the country to her credit. She has furthered the cause of qualitative improvement in nursing health care at a global level through her research, paper presentations and consulting activities and through upskilling of nursing professionals.
Dr. Kapoor has also been a prominent member of Trained Nursing Association of India (TNAI) throughout her career and is a former President of the Delhi Nursing Council. In 1996, she started working in Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Delhi, to structure curriculums and disseminate higher education opportunities to nursing professionals through the distance education mode. She has also been the first nurse to serve as Director, Health Sciences division at IGNOU during her tenure. Dr. Kapoor received her PhD in Education from the Indira Gandhi National Open University in New Delhi, and holds a Master’s in Nursing from RAK College of Nursing, and a Master’s of Science in Nursing from Delhi University.
